You have been at Flybits since the beginning. Why?
That’s an easy one, it’s the product and it’s potential. I truly believe that we provide a unique solution that can cater to any business. I am proud to see how much our product has evolved over the last 10 years from idea and concept, to a proof of concept, to a product that is being used by millions of people. It has truly been an amazing experience.
Who is your greatest mentor?
It would be unfair to single out just one person who has played a vital role in getting to where I am today, but I would like to acknowledge the role that Flybits’ CEO Hossein Rahnama has played. Hossein has always been a guiding light in my career as he has provided me with countless advice over the years that has shaped me as a leader and for that, I am truly thankful.
How do you bring customer-centricity into Engineering?
It is my belief that you have to build a product that balances customer-expectations/wants with innovative technological advancements. You must have a vision for your product which emcompasses features that are not only “must-have” but come up with something out of the box that makes your product essential. Engineers love building cool, new, innovative, and most importantly challenging features that not only showcase the product but their skills as well.
Finish this sentence: Leadership is about…
Setting a vision and direction that inspires and challenges those around you.
It's a wild ride with a lot of long nights, early mornings, tough decisions, and wrong turns so make sure you enjoy the little things, smile as much as possible, and have fun.
What motivates you?
If you asked me 5 years ago, I would have had one answer. If you asked me 3 years ago, I would have had another. At this point in my life, I want the product to reach the potential that I originally saw when I started this journey more than 10 years ago. I am proud of where we have brought Flybits but we ain’t done yet!
How would you describe yourself?
As a leader, I try to be someone who values the thoughts and insights of others. A team, a company, a product thrive in a collaborative, innovative, and engaging environment and that is what I try to provide as a leader. I encourage others to take ownership and responsibility of the tasks they do but I am not afraid to make tough decisions when needed. I try my best to set a vision and direction for everything that my team does, if you know where you are going its a lot easier to get there.
