Meet our Leadership Team

Dr. Hossein Rahnama

Founder & CEO

Hossein Rahnama is a computer scientist who lives in the paradox of academia and entrepreneurship. As a visiting professor at the MIT Media Lab and professor at Ryerson University, his research explores AI, mobile human-computer interaction and the effective design of data-driven services. He is also the founder and CEO of Flybits Inc., a data intelligence company that is serving a global customer base.

Rahnama has written 30 publications and received 10 patents in ubiquitous computing. He served as a council member at NSERC (National Science and Research Engineering Council of Canada) and currently serving on the board of Canadian Science Publishing. He was a co-founder of the #1 university-based incubator in the world, The Digital Media Zone at Ryerson University. In 2012, MIT Technology Review selected him as one of the Top 35 Innovators under the age of 35 globally. In 2017, he be became one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40.

Sean Frigault

VP of Global Sales

Sean Frigault leads the Global Sales and Business Development team at Flybits and is responsible for the overall revenue growth of the company. Sean has over 15 years of experience in the FINTECH sector mainly in Sales and Business development, but has also held key positions in product, engineering, project management and operations.

Prior to joining Flybits, Sean has held various senior roles at global organizations such as Finastra, FCT (Division of First American Corporation), D+H and CIBC. Sean is very active in the start-up investment community which includes various advisory positions. Sean holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McGill University and an MBA from the University of Toronto. Sean also has extensive experience managing complex strategic projects and completed his Lean Six Sigma certification.

Justine Melman

VP of Marketing and Communications

Justine Melman is a seasoned marketer with two decades of experience delivering cutting-edge digital marketing, user engagement and social media programs for major global and Canadian brands. Justine got her BA in Psychology from Western University. She then began her career launching MyVirtuaLife, an innovative entertainment/loyalty startup. From there, she honed her expertise as a consumer marketer with roles at Holt Renfrew, The Globe and Mail, eBay Canada, Ally and Yahoo! Canada. With her move to Cineplex, Justine focused on helping the company evolve its digital transformation strategy to enhance the customer experience. As VP of Marketing & Communications at Flybits, Justine leads efforts to advance brand, marketing and customer experience strategies.

Gerti Dervishi

VP of Corporate Development and Operations

A founding member of the Flybits team in 2012 and has served in a number of roles including customer success, product management, strategy, implementation, and most recently forging international partnerships and consulting with some of the world’s leading brands. Gerti holds a B.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Ottawa, a Masters in Management Finance from Harvard University.

Petar Kramaric

VP of Product

A founding member of the Flybits team since 2008, Petar was part of the initial research group that built the IP for the future of the company. He is currently responsible for all product planning and development of the platform. Petar is a graduate of Ryerson University where he completed both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Computer and Data Science.

Dr. Arash Bina

VP of Engineering

As a key member, Arash manages and leads Flybits’ growing core engineering team. He is an expert in world leading technologies and complex systems architecture design. He holds PhD and Masters Degrees from the University of Southern California.

Dr. Matt Stroud

Managing Director (EMEA)

Matt Stroud leads Flybits in EMEA and is responsible for driving Flybits growth in the region. Matt has previously worked in both start-ups (Nanotego, Weve) and corporates (EE, T-Mobile), focusing on using personal data to drive commercial outcomes. He led the UK’s Personal Data and Trust program at the Digital Catapult, bringing together hundreds of innovators focused on the use of personal data.  Matt was Head of Strategy for the UK’s largest mobile phone operator EE. He is committed to helping an ethical data ecosystem flourish and is co-founder of the Data Sharing Principles Group. Matt has a PhD in Astrophysics from UCL and has two children.

Jay Graver

Director of Advanced Enterprise Solutions

Jay leads the Solutions Team at Flybits responsible for delivering innovations that address business challenges. Prior to joining Flybits he was the Global Solution Sales Director for the Americas at Giesecke & Devrient, a multi-national vendor of Mobile Security. As a subject matter expert, he has worked extensively in the Payments and Information Security industries. Jay has brought several Mobile Payments solutions to market, from pre-sales design through to commercial launch. He specializes in the intricacies of enterprise design and systems integration. As a Lead Engineer for an international network security vendor Jay led cryptography and vulnerability research projects. An active member of the computer security and payment communities, he is a regular speaker at International Conferences. Jay is a University of Guelph graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Systems and Computing.
